Truth #2: Processed fats are the ones to blame
Processed fats are equally harming to your health and waistlines as any other processed foods. By processed fats, we mean any fat that is not in its whole and pure form. And that includes all the oils (yes, olive and coconut, too). Pure bottled oils are man-made, mechanically or chemically refined components of whole foods. Such unnatural pure-fat products have very few health-promoting nutrients and yet they are the most energy-dense foods known. Do you know that one tablespoon of any oil contains whopping 119 Kcal which is just 20 Kcal less than a 330ml can of Coca-Cola Classic? Were you aware of the fact that every time you order a portion of a Caesar salad you get it mixed with 2-2,5 tablespoons of olive oil which equates to 238-297,5 Kcal? Another “fat” example for you to digest: eating just 2,5 tablespoons of any oil per day translates into more than 1 kg of weight gain per month. All of a sudden, extra virgin olive oil does not sound as a diet-friendly food, right?
